Visual thinking strategies are such a great tool to use to reinforce content from any variety of classes. I think visual thinking is a great way to prompt writing and allow students to expand on ideas while doing a writing. They can visualize and expand on the ideas they are writing about if there is a picture or a piece of art for them to look at while doing the writing project.
I picked a lesson plan that does compare and contrast with different versions of the story Stone Soup. They are also given different pieces of art that are related in some way to the story, they also compare and contrast the images.
