Instagram- There are a lot of different settings you can change to allow for careful monitoring.
1) Notifications-  I would make sure likes and notifications only come from followers, allowing comments only from followers, getting stories and posts from people you follow.
2) Privacy settings will be set to private
3) Push notifications would need to be off
