Financial literacy should begin as soon as children stop putting coins in their mouth.  Coins can be introduced to students beginning in Kindergarten. While working on the number line, teachers can make a reference to coins. Nothing too overwhelming but as a visual aide on their number line that is usually taped on the top of student's desk. This preparation to Math by using coins early, might become their only awareness of prior learning.
