I am a level 1 teacher, and I have; along with other special education teachers have been looking for activities and skills for those high school students who are not going on to college, but need real-life math skills instruction and activities. I believe that Financial literacy is extremely important and as high school teachers of students who more than likely are not going to pursue a 4-year degree that Financial literacy is critical to their success after high school. Knowing how to plan their finances, and protect what they already have is a critical skill.
I can see myself working with high school students on their saving skills, and how to finance for bigger purchase items (car, housing, etc.) Having financial skills could be the ticket for students who are trying to break the cycle of economic status in their family.
