I believe that we need to bring math and English into every course we teach. It is generally easy to bring in English by using vocabulary. Math on the other hand is more difficult. Most students don't see the need for algebra, but they do see the need for money. Thus to me, financial literacy is what we need to build the math foundation upon. If we start using financial literacy in all of our classes starting in kindergarten, then by the time students get to algebra they will see how they have been using algebra all the time. In this way, students not only become more proficient in math but become wiser consumers.
