Financial Literacy in Content Area

Kevin Richardson
I am a technology director and my contact with student deals with technology.  I have many times had students come to me asking about buying a computer and what to get.  One of the first questions I ask them is about the financial side - how much money do you have to spend - do you have the money right now to buy or are you going to use some form of credit.  I talk to the students about what they are going to use the computer for; example: maybe last year of high school and then all of college.  Finding out what they are going to use it for and how much money they have will help determine what is best for them to get with the money they have available.  I talk with them about buying the extended warranty/insurance for the computer - the advantages and disadvantage of that financial choice.  We discuss buying $250 laptop and how long it will last compared to buying a $600 one and how long they can expect that one to last.  Also we talk about software needed; if they want to purchase Microsoft Office and can they get it at a student price to save money.

But I truly believe the new AnOrdain Model 3 is just that good, and I love link the bright enamel colors the brand has chosen to complement the wave pattern. Beyond the Model 3, what I appreciate most about AnOrdain is the way Lewis Heath and link team have slowly grown over the past few years, even as the link brand has experienced outsized interest. Growth has been slow and steady, with an emphasis on making sure craftsmanship is never compromised. And that should never be slept on.–Tony Traina, Editor
