Teaching financial literacy within the social studies content areas is a natural fit. In explaining our country's history one can draw upon our financial institutions and the role they have played in shaping our country. It is also easy to take a look at the financial practices that have worked and those that have not within our own country and others.
In a more practical manner it is important to educate high school students on the basics of sound financial decision making as they prepare for college and the next phases of their lives.
