As a high school social studies I teach courses in both history and behavioral science. Looking through the curriculum for the state of Iowa social studies standards and the examples provided on the first page of this course, I can envision several lessons in which financial literacy can be embedded into the historical or behavioral content being discussed. Looking at the Age of Exploration of the explosion of international trade to the development of the first stock exchanges in world history; as well as motivation, emotion, and decision making in the behavioral sciences. The resources provided by the Federal Reserve in Philadelphia appear to very thorough and applicable to a wide array of social studies concepts. I am looking forward to learning more about financial literacy and ways in which I can infuse into the courses I teach.
