As an administrator, I attend many meeting in the community where the parents and public are concerned about the understanding students have about money, credit and planning. I have worked with two different teachers on implementing financial literacy ideas in to their classroom. We do everything we can to prepare students for training after high school, but we often assume they know more than we think about money management and balancing a budget. These lessons need to start with elementary students learning about savings and continue through the K-12 curriculum, preparing students for life in the real world.
