Financial Literacy

Joanne Ericson
As a substitute teacher I am often asked about where I went to college and more. It is a great opportunity to discuss the costs of college and how saving and financial planning can contribute to make college a reality. Many of the students are thinking short term when they really need to take in the big picture as they make college-related decisions. Teaching these components of financial literacy helps educate them to make the strong long-term decisions.

In the business classes I have substituted in I can share my experiences in starting a family business. The range of financial decisions that we needed to make and how financial planning helped us succeed. It is a great opportunity to share how the financial decisions we make every day can affect us long-term.

But I did a hell of a lot better than last time and had link way more fun. "You link did awesome," Le assured me. I don't know if I link believe "awesome," but, hey, HSNY, where's the all-women's escapement class? Me and my seven new buddies are ready.
