Financial Literacy

When is a good time to start learning about money? Right away! Whether your teaching a preschooler to identify coins and counting or a Senior in high school how to budget their money it is important. The more we are able to teach them and get them comfortable with making informed decisions regarding money the more confident they will be. As a substitute teacher I would prepare a quick lesson on finances for whichever class that I would be teaching that day. I would bring all necessary material with me. I would incorporate it into the content of the material that is to be covered for that day. Examples: 2nd grade they could be learning about Early Pioneers - incorporate the understanding of trade as in value. 10th grade learning about NASA - have them research regarding the cost of preparation before a space shuttle ever lifts off.
