I teach in a 9-12 building with a high poverty rate and EL students. There are many high school students that are the interpreter for the adults in the household. They need the financial literacy to help navigate their families in the environment they are living. I have also found it is very difficult for a family living in poverty to save money. I have found if they have the money they will spend it.
