I think a course in basic check writing would be good for all high school students and maybe even middle school students. worksheets could be provided that allow students to write the check, enter it in a check register, have a statement from the bank included so they can learn how to read the bank statement and then balance their checkbook to the bank statement. I know many adults who do not know how at don't take the time to write down entries in their checkbook let alone balance it.
