Art is a significant tool throughout the learning process -- all 3 articles make this clear. Art can help lower a child's affective filter, allowing them a low-stakes way do demonstrate their understanding. Art increases engagement across disciplines, draws in tactile learners, and invokes higher level thinking as students create their own means of comprehension, rather than rote memorization.
Art can also be a great tool to build a growth mindset and foster resiliency. Many students do not consider themselves artists and frustrate or quit easily. Encouraging imperfect creativity helps children understand that a great outcome is possible even if the beginning or middle is "messy."
Art objectives nest well within many other content areas and the increasing lack of art inside gen ed classrooms should be a concern.
