What was new learning for you?
I was personally unaware of all the different terms and types of art there are. What intrigued me most was the difference between visual texture that implies a sense of texture and tactile texture that has 3-D characteristics you can feel. This would be a fun incorporation to the biology course that I co-teach for our environmental and human impact units.
What was a review?
I was aware of the primary and secondary colors from previous schooling within my educational career. The quizzes that we were able to take as practice were also somewhat of a review for myself as far as the lines, colors, and shapes.
How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?
I am currently co-teaching in a high school biology class and I would be able to use organic art in our environmental nature portion of the unit. Students would be able to go outside and capture images or create their own work of art utilizing pieces of nature.
