What was new learning for you?
Some of the element terms, such as rhythm, unity, and emphasis, were new in regards to being an art term, but upon reading the definition and seeing the related visual, the connection to art made sense.
What was a review?
Many of the other terms were familiar to me. After I read the definition, I recalled them from my years in school. A few were familiar because some of my students have art assistance, so I know what they are doing in class.
How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?
I can use the concepts while teaching one of my students in particular. He loves art. I can teach him these terms and better prepare him for art classes in high school. I can also use some of these concepts in teaching math, geometry and graphing to other students. One of my students is working on shapes. I can use these terms and information to provide her more opportunities to increase her vocabulary and perhaps understanding.
