Forum Post 1: Art Concepts and Terminology

What was new learning for you?

Alot of the art terminologies mentioned in the glossary were new to me and I was surprised at how many there are.  For example, I did not know that there is a paint called "encaustic" that is made from pigments and beeswax.

What was a review?

The use of the color wheel to blend colors, texture, primary and secondary colors, how texture can be used to better convey what the artist means were a few review items.  These I've used in varying degrees to develop projects for my general education students and currently using them to better gain and keep the attention of my special education students.

How can you apply these concepts to a content area you currently teach?

Being that this year, we've gone from fully virtual to hybrid and now back to virtual within my district, I am looking for ways to better keep the focus of my special education students while they are only viewing a screen.  Incorporating several new visual aspects into my virtual lessons can hopefully keep my remote learners engaged.
