New learning for me was the distinction between vertical lines being stately and horizontal lines potentially or it being alluded to representing death. However, in combination, they represent stability. Diagonal lines show movement, either up or down. Each of these ideas makes complete sense, so I had several "aha" moments while reading the information.
The color wheel was review for me. As an elementary teacher, primary and secondary colors were quite familiar to me. I knew tertiary and analogous colors; but it's been some time since I heard or have used the terminology.
As an elementary special education teacher I can apply many of the concepts in my classroom. My students are hands on learners and they love to create. Emergent readers and writers convey written messages through pictures. I cannot wait to work with my youngest student and use the concepts of lines and teach him how to show movement in his writing.
