What can exploring art do for enhancing and developing career skills?
Art can do so much for enhancing and developing career skills. One of the most important skills that art enhances in creativity! With free art, students are encouraged to think outside of the box, look for new ways or solutions, and work through trial and error. When given opportunities to think outside of the box, students are building life long lessons that they can use in any future career path. With free art, many times it is a game of trial and error to see what works. The same lesson can be taken into any future career.
What types of technologies have you used that shares a link with art? Include at least one link to a technology that could be used in the classroom.
Last year, I began looking for extension projects to do towards the end of the year that worked on reading and writing. One app that I came across was Toontastic. This app allowed students the opportunity to write a story on paper and then narrate it through it through their own cartoon! The app gave students the opportunity to create their own scene, choose their background, and characters. This was a great way to integrate writing, technology, and art all into one extension lesson!
What are your "takeaways" from the article and videos?
One of the most important takeaways was the importance to remember that not all students are coming to school ready to learn. We might never know what some of our students are going through in other classes or at home. These students might have a hard time behaving or completing work. However, art might be a great way for these students to express themselves. Art will give these students a safe opportunity to express themselves!
