After (mumble) years of driving a school bus, I've decided to activate my substitute authorization license and move to the classroom. While there are similarities of experiences (each involves interaction with students), it's a big change. I've read a number of the posts on this site which gives me some insight into the classroom use of Google tools. Substituting is different from a fixed school/classroom situation. Since I'll be substituting at both public and private schools, I'll need to communicate my availability. Starting out I will initially use Google calendar. Each month I'll create a calendar showing the dates I'll be available for substituting. I will share these with the staff responsible for scheduling substitutes. During the school year I'll create Labels for the schools where I've substituted. I'll create groups within the labels and include contact information of people I'll want to communicate with at each school.
