GMail as a short-term substitutue

I am on a day-in day-out short term substitute. I have no access to any contact information for the students. My need for communication with GMail is minimal.

I do use calendar and the notifications to remind myself well in advance of my assignments in both classroom assignment and basketball officiating assignments to insure no conflicts in future dates.
