GMail can be used in many different ways in the middle school classroom. An easy thing to do with GMail with my students would be to send out assignments or reminders on completing classwork. I could send an email out with an assignment description, a web link URL to an article to help assist in the assignment, or a video linked to YouTube.
In addition, students can communicate among themselves when working on group projects while at home.
