As a librarian, I can communicate with students about materials they have put on hold via Gmail. We can also send them notices and reminders using GMail.
When I am working with students in classes, we've used GMail for them to be able to communicate with one another while collaborating on projects. I think that Tasks and Google Keep will be fantastic additions to that process.
