I just recently had students use their gmail account in my classroom for the first time. I am a 5th grade teacher and we needed to type a document. Each student used Docs to process his/her essay, and then was able to share it with me. We were then able to have individual writing conferences while looking at the document together. It also allowed me to have a paperless trail of each of their essays. I then shared the essays with a high school teacher and set up a writers' workshop with her English class. All of this, without having to make copies, and the students loved it! I'm excited to see what other applications gmail will have in my classroom.
