I teach high school special education. I love using google docs with my students. They can share their papers with me and I can see their progress at any time (not just during their assigned resource time) and it helps a lot with lost work. When they use Word it seems like they can't find their papers very easily or they forgot to save their work and we lost a lot of time re-doing work.
I also use the calendar function a lot in school for scheduling IEP meetings and PT and speech appointments. It's so much faster to just invite the participants to meetings in one email and then they have a reminder of the meeting. I can also see when my AEA team in available to meet with me or a parent quickly without waiting for an email back to check availability.
