I no longer teach in the classroom, however, I teach environmental science to many classrooms around my county. As far as gmail is concerned, Hangouts is great for allowing those that I interact with to continue exploring environmental science more and allowing me to continue having a hand in that. I haven't done this yet, but I think it might work.
Lastly, as the chair of a school board, I like that I can have gmail set up mailing groups that allow me to quickly get information out to the board, and with colors and labels quickly follow any replies. This is helpful for sending info to the whole board, a committee, or the board and school staff all in one.
