Gmail in the Classroom

Ann Pottratz
I teach on a military installation, with families from all over the world. Gmail’s translate feature will be very helpful when communicating with families where English is not their primary language.  I also think the groups feature will be very helpful. I volunteer with different after school clubs, so being able to send out information to one club without having to individually pick out students from contacts will be useful.  Finally, using labels and then searching for the labels will help me quickly relocate archived messages sent to those groups.

I work in a small private school. We had one student, years ago, who we thought made a game of not knowing English. Even outside resource people could not figure it out. We used what resources we could muster, but it was not a good situation. How great it would have been to have the gmail translator then. Assignments could have been sent and received through that feature. Communication could have been directly with his guardians, also. SO much better!
