In a middle school classroom, I think Gmail can be very helpful. I can see using Gmail for assignment reminders and for upcoming assessments. In the email, I could send descriptions of assignments and add a link to an article or youtube video. The label feature would also allow me to communicate extra with students that are struggling. The translate feature might be helpful this year as well.
