I plan to use gmail to communicate with my families. I am very excited about the translation feature. Over 50% of my students are recently immigrated families and most of their parents do not speak English yet. By allowing them to contact me using their home language, I hope they are more able to share information with me. Likewise, being able to send them messages in their home languages will be very helpful. I plan to share this information with my families during our introductory home visits in the fall.
