I use Gmail to send emails to students and parents when a student has been absent for a while. I'll send activities or links to resources that will get them caught up.
I really like a lot of the features of adding labels and what not as well. I've not taught these to my students yet, but I think that some of them would benefit from learning about some of the organizational tips like labels. This would be helpful to them as the announcements are sent to their emails every day and they could find information that they need easier this way.
I also have a contact list for my prom committee students. There I'll send them emails about where and when we will meet to discuss our planning.
