Gmail in the classroom

Shana Bangs
I teach Kindergarten so Gmail isn't really beneficial for my students, but there are a lot of other ways I will use it. I like the translating feature that was talked about, we have a high hispanic population and so having a way to send messages to those families is very important.

I also will use the labels part of it to keep my inbox organized. I am signed up to get resources from different blogs and so it is beneficial to keep those emails separate from school emails.

I also really like the task feature in Gmail. That will be a great way to keep my to do list handy and not have paper copies of it floating around. Everything can be in one place and easy to find.

Shana,

Thanks for the information about using the translating feature. I also think this would be helpful. I know a few students I work with as a sub feel more comfortable speaking or reading Spanish. They can speak English but I find that if they could have translation...they might ask more questions.

I haven't used the task feature but look forward to learning more about.
