Gmail is a great platform for students to learn about email and to stay connected with both their classmates and the teacher. If the chat feature is enabled it is a great way to teach your students about real time collaboration on a project much like you will find with Google Docs. Google is a great tool for adults, but I have found it to be a great tool for elementary students to learn about the power of electronic communication, both good and bad!
