Gmail in the classroom

My personal feelings on gmail in the classroom is great.  I love it since most kids today have some kind of smartphone and have the ability to stay in touch.  The only reason I got texting was because they wouldn't answer their phones.  Now with social media and email we need to help them learn how to use this as a resource. Kids need to understand how to make an appropriate email and proper etiquette when constructing an email to different people of authority.  They also need to be responsible for communication between them and you as the teacher.  Instilling in them that they can do this will empower them to use it.
