As some other posts have mentioned, I have been a gmail user for many years, but have not taken the time to fully understand all the different applications that are available. If I were to implement something into a classroom setting (I no longer teach full time, but substitute from time to time) I would take advantage of Google calendar to post due dates of assignments and tests to allow parents and students to easier keep track of what is occurring in the classroom. I could also see the opportunity to use the video chat to have students work in groups from home while doing homework or projects.
On a personal note, I am going to consider using the filter option to help my mother pre-sort her email into business and personal files.
