I have been using multiple Gmail accounts for years. The interface is user friendly and ideal for everybody, teachers, parents and students alike. The translator in Google labs would be very beneficial when communicating with parents that don't speak english. Everyone has busy schedules these days, so Gmail is perfect for parent/teacher communication. It could also be used by the students to contact the teachers about questions on assignments or in the event of making up missed classes.
