I am a substitute teacher and unfortunately my district does not use gmail. However if they did I would use gmail to establish penpals in different states and countriesat different grade levels. I think it would be very educational for students to communicate with students in other states or countries. The translation app could be used to bridge language barriers. The activity would allow students to travel the country or world while still in the classroom.
