Gmail vs. Mac OS Mail

My school's domain is a google domain so everybody's email is gmail.  I have always used the Mac OS Mail app instead of the gmail web app.  I tend to like the clean interface of the Mac app more.  The gmail web app seems very cluttered to me, especially when there is a long conversation between many people with many replies.  I feel like it is very easy to get lost within the conversation within gmail.  I know that there are some nice labeling things and shortcuts within gmail, but I still think the interface of the Mac app still outweighs anything gmail has to offer.
