As an Early Childhood teacher, I would not use Google 101 much for communicating with my students. However, email is vital in communicating with families. It is an easy way to let parents know what their children are doing, what upcoming events we will be holding, positive notes about the day, and classroom reminders. Families are busy and notes get lost in the hustle and bustle, so gmail is awesome in helping to spread the word.
As far as classroom, google is utilized a lot for gathering information. When one student wonders about something it is easy to take a moment and pull the question up on google and find answers quickly and with several links that show great information.
With the addition of google mini, I'm considering taking mine to school this year. I could see little's really getting excited that google will answer all their deepest questions.
