I have been using Gmail personally for many years and over the course of those years Google has implemented and updated many new features that have proved to be very valuable. Communication to staff, admin,parents and students is key. Having different contact groups to quickly send out information and reminders is time efficient. Using Google Labs translation feature to stay in communication with mainly Spanish speaking students and/or parents is extremely helpful. Over the last few years while districts are becoming more one to one in technology using Google Hangouts for student questions, discussions and group work gives teachers and students quick responses about classroom work.
