As a sub, I think teachers could save repeating things to missing students using Google chat to facilitate an important lesson when the student couldn't be in the classroom. I think this is a wonderful use of that tool as a way for teachers to also stay connected with a classroom when they can't be physically present. This also would be handy if a student wanted to listen to the instructions again given by the teacher. Teachers when they are missing would not be losing out on work time for the students.
