Google Sites Help Me with ideas

I have been reviewing the videos on Google sites but can't really seem to see what I would use it for. I thought maybe when they do a research paper in Social Studies on various topics. If anyone an help with ideas please do.

I think it might be fun as a classroom information tool.  Kids could add pages about topics the class is studying or field trips etc.  Parents could then check in as desired.  Would maybe replace the classroom newsletters.
