The other day in class my students were recording themselves on their phones while I was recording the ensemble as a group. We discussed the possiblity of actually playing music with each other remotely in Hang Out. I still have to do some research into the possibility of this, but at the very least I can encourage students to record their own performances and post them in a class Circle.
