I’m at my wits end dealing with Mercantile Adjustment Bureau. They started contacting me about a supposed debt that I honestly don’t recognize, and now they won’t leave me alone. They keep calling at random times, leaving vague voicemails, and sometimes even calling my relatives asking how to reach me. I never got anything in writing from them, just nonstop phone calls and pressure to pay right away.
I told them on the phone that I don’t think the debt is mine and that I want proof, but they still keep calling almost every day. They make it sound like they can wreck my credit if I don’t pay, even though I haven’t seen a single piece of documentation from them. It feels like harassment at this point and it’s honestly starting to affect my sleep and concentration.
Has anyone else had to deal with this kind of aggressive collection from Mercantile Adjustment Bureau? Did you send a debt validation letter or file a complaint to get them to back off? I found this page about debt collection harassment that looks helpful:
