Working with 6th graders that have special needs. The students are at a 2nd grade level. I review, review and review simple money counting projects. I use real life examples with the students. Going to the grocery store to pick up items for mom, do you have enough money, did you get the right change? Simple adding and subtracting problems made interesting. Knowing the students family and using them in the examples seems to help one of the girls. When sitting up the problem using her brothers name makes the problem seem real to her.
