How do you control match tempo during difficult matches?

gayahari
One thing I often struggle with in football games is controlling the tempo, especially when the opponent presses aggressively or when stamina starts dropping. Playing too fast sometimes causes careless mistakes, while slowing the game too much can give the opponent confidence.
I’ve found that adjusting tempo based on the match situation really helps for example, slowing things down after scoring, or increasing pressure in the final minutes. Small tactical tweaks can make a big difference.
While looking into this topic, I came across a useful reference about DFL 25 match pacing that explains how tempo control impacts overall gameplay balance. It gave me a few ideas, but I’d like to hear from other players as well. How do you usually manage match pace? Do you change it mid-game or stick to one approach?

I totally get what you mean about tempo—it’s tricky to balance fast attacks with maintaining control. I usually try to “read” the opponent first: if they press hard, I slow down and focus on short passes to avoid mistakes, then speed up when I see an opening. It’s kind of like timing jumps in Geometry Dash—one wrong move, and the whole rhythm falls apart.
