I have taught in the Public School for 40+ years so learning this is a little late for my public school classroom. However, I see it for great potential in the Sunday School classroom I have taught for many years and continue to teach. I also see it for use with my grandson who I home school in the AM. He is dual enrolled. When I am gone in the morning, I can email his assignments and any other information he needs to complete his assignments.
Gmail will fulfill a big role in the communication with the adult women in my Sunday School class which will communication between the teacher (me) and the other ladies in my class and communication between the ladies themselves. I can post prayer requests each week, answers to prayer, group meetings outside of the regular Sunday School time, hospital stays, health needs and assignments for Sunday School each week. In the summer months, people are traveling a lot so I can include notes from the Sunday School lesson that they have missed. When the students return to Sunday School, they will be caught up and ready to go. Also, if someone asks a question that I do not know, I can do the research and tell them what I found. I can forward them some sites when I found the information. Students can share other sites or articles they found addressing the topic we are discussing. We can use a video chat to talk in the middle of the week to make our friendships closer.
First we may need to have a few classes about what I am learning here. I realize I must keep it simple. We have a smart TV in class so I can easily teach from our Sunday School some evening they are free or I could tell them about the utube tutorials we are using here.
