When my son first received his cell phone, his number used to belong to someone else. For a while he would receive texts and phone calls for this person. One of the texts involved profanity. He was very good and bringing me his phone when a number he didn't recognize popped up. It provided a good opportunity for me to teach the importance of not giving out personal information through any device. It was kind of a scary experience for him at first. I would answer the call or the text and explain the number didn't belong to that person anymore. I explained to my son this was all the information we needed to tell them. Finally the wrong numbers stopped. If they hadn't stopped soon I was going to go request a different number.
