I have been very hesitant to use a lot of media in my classroom. I think that it is super important for our students to understand how to use digital media appropriately. This experience goes way back to when our school system was first connected to the Internet. We, as teachers, were so excited to be able to bring new and various types of information to our students. Teaching in a smaller system our media center was limited to the variety and types of references materials it offered. One teacher quickly discovered that searching the world wide web wasn't filtered and many inappropriate websites came up. After opening up in front of students what seemed like a harmless site (which wasn't), he never opened anything without first reviewing the content of each site he used in front of students.
