Inappropriate use of digital media involves a variety of ways in which personal pictures, videos, or games are used to violate other people’s privacy. A good example are unmoderated chat rooms where anything goes. There are ways to teach young adults about the importance of being kind online just like they should be kind in real life. Virtual communications may seem impersonal, but there must be a clear understanding that there are real human individuals on the receiving end of any comments or messages. The latest trend in inappropriate use of digital media are AI-generated videos showing people in compromising or unreal situations saying things they would never say. These images and videos are a great threat and detrimental to those targeted by such inappropriate behavior.
