I have seen far too many times an argument playing out on Facebook. It is easy to say something online that you would not say to someone’s face. Unfortunately it then can cause other people who have no idea what is going on to get into the argument and cause much more conflict than there should have been. It is also hard to tell if someone is saying something sarcastically or serious through messaging. Sometimes the person who receives the message might take it the wrong way. If it was a face to face conversation then the person on the receiving end would be able to tell through the person’s expression and tone a voice if they were being sarcastic or serious.
